Seungmee Yoo has been a painter for over 40 years, with an MFA in Painting from Seoul National University of Science & Technology. Since immigrating to the United States in 2000, Yoo has continued to paint full time and has exhibited in cities in Korea, Japan, and the United States.

Heavily inspired by nature, Yoo’s subject matter is often quiet moments that feature the natural landscapes or people of Korea. While quiet and calming in scenery, she is able to capture the vitality in her subject matter through layers and layers of oil paints. Yoo continues her search for this vitality as she becomes closer with nature.
